Side Impact Sensor (SIS) Description and Operation

~1min read

Description

The side impact sensor (SIS) system consists of two P-SIS sensors, installed in the center of each front door module (left and right), and two A-SIS sensors, installed on each center pillar (left and right). The side pressure sensor is also called P-SIS because it detects the pressure caused by a collision at its installation location. The side impact sensor is also called A-SIS because it detects acceleration. The SRSCM determines whether to deploy the airbag and the timing of deployment through the SIS collision signal when a collision occurs.
