Noise Hissing noise in the steering gear
Some noise is normal with all power steering systems. One of the most common is a hissing sound when turning the steering wheel while the vehicle is stationary. This noise will be most noticeable when turning the steering wheel while the brakes are applied. There is no relation between this noise and steering performance. Do not replace the valve unless the hissing noise becomes excessive. A replaced valve will also produce a slight noise and is not always the solution to the problem.
