Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) — If Equipped
The BSM system uses two radar sensors located inside the rear lamps to detect highway-legal vehicles (cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc.) entering the blind spot zones at the rear/front/side of the vehicle.

Rear Detection Zones
When the vehicle is started, the BSM warning light illuminates briefly in both outside rearview mirrors so the driver knows the system is operational. The BSM sensors operate when the vehicle is in any forward gear or REVERSE (R), and enter standby mode when the vehicle is in PARK (P).
The BSM detection zone covers approximately one lane width on each side of the vehicle, 12 ft (3.8 m). The zone length starts outside the rearview mirror and extends approximately 10 ft (3 m) past the rear bumper of the vehicle. The BSM system monitors the detection zones on both sides of the vehicle when the vehicle speed reaches approximately 10 km/h or above and warns the driver of vehicles in these areas.
NOTE:
- The BSM system does NOT warn the driver of rapidly approaching vehicles that are outside the detection zones.
- The BSM detection zone does NOT CHANGE if your vehicle is towing a trailer. Therefore, visually confirm that the adjacent lane is clear for both your vehicle and the trailer before changing lanes. If a trailer or other object (such as a bicycle or sports equipment) extends beyond the side of your vehicle, the BSM warning indicator may illuminate and remain illuminated for as long as the vehicle is in forward gear.
- The Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) system may experience dropouts (flickering and turning off) of the side mirror warning indicators when a motorcycle or any small object remains beside the vehicle for an extended period of time (more than a few seconds).
The area on the rear fascia where the radar sensors are located must be free of snow, ice, and dirt/road contamination for the BSM system to function properly. Do not block the rear fascia where the radar sensors are located with foreign objects (bumper stickers, bicycle racks, etc.).

BSM Radar Location (left side shown)
The BSM system notifies the driver of objects in the detection zones by illuminating the BSM warning indicator located in the outside mirrors, in addition to an audible (chime) alert and reducing radio volume.

Warning Indicator Location
The BSM system monitors the detection zone from three different entry points (side, rear, front) while driving to ensure that the warning is necessary. The BSM system will issue a warning during these types of zone entry.
