Forward Collision-Warning (FCW) with Mitigation — if equipped
FCW with Mitigation provides the driver with audible warnings, visual warnings (in the instrument cluster display), and may apply a tactile warning in the form of a brake jerk to alert the driver when it detects a possible forward collision. The warnings are intended to give the driver sufficient time to react, avoid, or mitigate the potential collision.
NOTE:
FCW monitors information from the forward-looking sensors as well as the Electronic Brake Controller (EBC) to calculate the probability of a forward collision. When the system determines that a forward collision is likely, the driver will be provided with audible and visual warnings and possibly a tactile warning in the form of a brake jerk.
If the driver takes no action based on these progressive warnings, the system will provide a limited level of active braking to help slow the vehicle and mitigate the potential forward collision. If the driver responds to the warnings by braking and the system determines that the driver intends to avoid the collision by braking but the braking force is insufficient, the system will supplement the braking and provide additional brake force as needed.
If FCW with Mitigation begins at a speed below 52 km/h, the system may apply the maximum available braking to mitigate a possible forward collision. If the Forward Collision-Warning with Mitigation completely stops the vehicle, the system will hold the vehicle in place for two seconds and then release the brakes.

FCW Message
When the system determines that a collision with the vehicle ahead of you is no longer likely, the warning message will be deactivated.
NOTE:
- The minimum speed for FCW activation is 3 mph (5 km/h).
- FCW alerts may be triggered by objects other than vehicles, such as guardrails or signposts, based on course prediction. This is expected and is part of normal FCW activation and functionality.
- It is unsafe to test the FCW system. To prevent such misuse of the system, after four active braking events in one key cycle, the active braking portion of FCW will be deactivated until the next key cycle.
- The FCW system is intended for use on paved roads only. If the vehicle is driven off-road, the FCW system must be turned off to prevent unnecessary warnings to others.
- FCW may not respond to irrelevant objects such as overhead objects, ground reflections, objects not in the vehicle's path, stationary objects that are far away, oncoming traffic, or lead vehicles traveling at the same or a higher speed.
- FCW will be turned off, as with ACC, with unavailable screens.
