NOTE:

Refer to the chart at the end of this section for recommended control settings for various weather conditions.

Summer Operation

The engine cooling system must be filled with high-quality antifreeze coolant to provide proper corrosion protection and to protect against engine overheating. OAT coolant (in accordance with MS.90032).

Winter Operation

To ensure the best heating and defrosting performance, make sure the engine cooling system operates properly and that the correct amount, type, and concentration of coolant is used. Using recirculation mode in winter months is not recommended, as it may cause the windows to fog up.

Storage/Storage Preparation

For information on maintaining the climate control system when the vehicle is stored for an extended period, refer to Storing Your Vehicle.

Window Fogging

Windows may fog up on the inside in mild, rainy, and/or humid weather. To clear the windows, select Defrost or Blend mode and increase the front fan speed. Do not use Recirculation mode without A/C for extended periods, as fogging may occur.

Outside Air Intake

Make sure the air intake located directly in front of the windshield is free of obstructions, such as leaves. Leaves collected in the air intake may reduce airflow, and if they enter the plenum, they may clog the water drains. In winter months, make sure the air intake is free of ice, slush, and snow.

Cabin Air Filter

The climate control system filters dust and pollen from the air. Contact an authorized dealer to service the cabin air filter and replace it when necessary.

Stop/Start System — if equipped

During an automatic engine stop, the climate control system may automatically adjust the airflow to maintain cabin comfort. Customer settings will be maintained after returning to the engine running condition.

Windshield Wiper De-Icer — if equipped

The windshield wiper de-icer is a heater element located at the base of the windshield.

It operates automatically when the following conditions are met:

  • Front Defrost Activation

The windshield wiper de-icer turns on automatically in cold weather when the ignition is started with the Defrost control at full, and when the outside air temperature is below 33°F (0.6°C).

  • Rear Defrost Activation

The windshield wiper de-icer turns on automatically when the rear window defroster is operating and the outside air temperature is below 33°F (0.6°C).

  • Remote Start Activation

When remote start is activated and the outside air temperature is below 33°F (0.6°C), the windshield wiper de-icer is activated. Exiting remote start will resume the previous operation, except when the windshield wiper de-icer is active. If the windshield wiper de-icer is active, the timer and operation will continue.
