Electrochromic Mirror (ECM)

~1min read

The electrochromic mirror automatically controls the glare of headlights from vehicles behind you at night or in low-light conditions. The sensor installed in the mirror detects the light level around the vehicle and automatically controls the glare from the headlights of vehicles behind you.

With the engine running, glare is automatically controlled by the sensor installed in the rearview mirror.

Whenever the shift lever is moved to the R (Reverse) position, the mirror automatically switches to its brightest setting to improve the driver's view of the area behind the vehicle.

CAUTION

When cleaning the mirror, use a paper towel or similar material moistened with glass cleaner. Do not spray glass cleaner directly onto the mirror, as liquid cleaner may get into the mirror housing.

To operate the electrochromic mirror:

  • The mirror defaults to the ON position each time the ignition key is turned.
  • Press the ON/OFF button (1) to turn off the automatic dimming function. The mirror indicator (2) will turn off. Press the ON/OFF button (1) to turn on the automatic dimming function. The mirror indicator (2) will illuminate.
