Parking Assist System Non-Operating Conditions

~2min read

The parking assist system may not operate properly if:

1. Moisture has frozen on the sensor. (It will operate normally when the moisture thaws.)

2. The sensor is covered with foreign matter such as snow or water, or the sensor cover is blocked. (It will operate normally once the material is removed or the sensor is no longer blocked.)

3. The sensor is contaminated with foreign substances such as snow or water. (The detection range will return to normal after removal.)

4. The parking assist button is turned off.

The parking assist system may malfunction when:

1. Driving on uneven road surfaces such as dirt roads, gravel, bumps, or slopes.

2. Objects producing excessive noise, such as vehicle horns, loud motorcycle engines, or truck air brakes, may interfere with the sensor.

3. Heavy rain or water spray.

4. Wireless transmitters or mobile phones are near the sensor.

5. The sensor is covered with snow.

The detection range may decrease if:

1. The outside air temperature is very high or very low.

2. Undetectable objects smaller than 1 m (3.3 ft.) in height and less than 14 cm (5.5 in.) in diameter.

The sensor may not detect the following objects:

1. Sharp or thin objects such as ropes, chains, or small poles.

2. Objects that can absorb the sensor frequency, such as clothing, sponge material, or snow.

✽ NOTICE

1. The warning may sound intermittently depending on the speed and shapes of the detected objects.

2. The parking assist system may malfunction if the vehicle bumper height or sensor installation has been changed. Any non-factory installed equipment or accessories may also affect sensor operation.

3. The sensor may not detect objects closer than 30 cm from the sensor, or it may detect the wrong distance. Use with caution.

4. If the sensor is frozen or covered with snow or water, the sensor may not operate until the deposits are removed with a soft cloth.

5. Do not press, scratch, or strike the sensor with hard objects that may damage the sensor surface. Damage to the sensor may occur.

✽ NOTICE

This system can only detect objects within the range and location of the sensors; it cannot detect objects in other areas where sensors are not installed. Also, small or thin objects, or objects located between the sensors, may not be detected.

While driving, always visually check the area in front of and behind the vehicle. Be sure to inform any drivers of the vehicle who may be unfamiliar with the system of the system's capabilities and limitations.

WARNING

Be especially careful when the vehicle approaches objects on the road, especially pedestrians, and especially children. Keep in mind that some objects may not be detected by the sensors due to the distance, size, or material of the objects, all of which may limit the effectiveness of the sensors. Always perform a visual inspection to make sure the vehicle is clear of all obstacles before moving the vehicle in any direction.
