Vehicles with Smart Key System
Whenever the engine start/stop button is switched to the ON position, the immobilizer system checks and verifies whether the key is valid or not.
If the key is valid, the engine will start.
If the key is invalid, the engine will not start.
To deactivate the immobilizer system
Switch the engine start/stop button to the ON position.
To activate the immobilizer system
Switch the engine start/stop button to the OFF position. The immobilizer system is activated automatically. Without a valid smart key for your vehicle, the engine will not start.
WARNING
To prevent vehicle theft, do not leave spare keys anywhere in your vehicle. Your immobilizer password is a unique customer password and must be kept secret. Do not leave this number in the vehicle.
✽ NOTICE
When starting the engine, do not keep the key near other immobilizer keys. Otherwise, the engine may not start or may stall shortly after starting. Keep each key separate to avoid incorrect starting.
CAUTION
Do not place metal objects near the ignition switch. The engine may not start because metal accessories may interrupt the normal transponder signal.
✽ NOTICE
If you need additional keys or have lost your keys, we recommend that you consult an authorized Kia dealer.
CAUTION
The transponder in the ignition key is an important part of the immobilizer system. It is designed to operate trouble-free for many years; however, you must avoid exposure to moisture, static electricity and rough handling. The immobilizer system may malfunction.
CAUTION
Do not alter, modify, or adjust the immobilizer system, as this may cause the immobilizer system to malfunction. We recommend having the system serviced by an authorized Kia dealer.
Malfunctions caused by improper changes, adjustments, or modifications to the immobilizer system are not covered by your vehicle manufacturer's warranty.
