Towing Services

If emergency towing is required, we recommend that it be performed by an authorized Kia dealer or a commercial towing service. Proper lifting and towing procedures are necessary to avoid damage to the vehicle. The use of wheel dollies or a flatbed is recommended.

The vehicle may be towed with the rear wheels on the ground (without dollies) and the front wheels off the ground.

If any of the loaded wheels or suspension components are damaged, or if the vehicle is towed with the front wheels on the ground, use a towing dolly under the front wheels.

When towing with a commercial towing service and wheel dollies are not used, the front of the vehicle must always be raised, not the rear.

✽ NOTICE

If the EPB does not operate normally, take your vehicle to an authorized Kia dealer by loading it onto a flatbed truck and have the system inspected.

WARNING - Side and Curtain Airbags

If your vehicle is equipped with side and curtain airbags, turn the ignition switch to the LOCK or ACC position when the vehicle is being towed.

The side and curtain airbags may deploy when the ignition switch is in the ON position, and the rollover sensor detects a rollover situation.

WARNING - Towing

• Do not tow the vehicle in reverse with the front wheels on the ground, as this may cause damage to the vehicle.
• Do not tow the vehicle with a sling-type device. Use a wheel lift or flatbed equipment.
• Do not tow the vehicle with all four wheels touching the ground if this vehicle is equipped with a DCT or IVT. Otherwise the transmission will be severely damaged. Also make sure not to tow the vehicle while connected to other vehicles, including motorhomes.

When towing the vehicle to an emergency location without wheel dollies:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.

2. Shift the gear selector lever to N (Neutral).

3. Release the parking brake.

CAUTION - Towing Hook Position

Failure to place the shift lever in N (Neutral) may cause internal damage to the transmission.
