Calibration Procedure

If the compass was not calibrated or the zone number is incorrect, or if you are driving in certain locations (tunnel, indoor parking, underground parking, near electrical substations, etc.), the following conditions may occur.
  • The display showed "C".
  • The compass directions become inaccurate.
  • The compass direction does not change.
  • Some compass directions are not displayed.
  • Compass directions are inaccurate during long-distance driving.
This compass is automatically calibrated while the vehicle is driven in complete circles. If the compass direction remains inaccurate, the compass must be calibrated manually as follows:
  1. Move the vehicle away from large steel structures or power cables.
  2. Turn on the compass by pressing button A.
  3. Check the zone number by pressing and holding button A for more than 4 seconds until the current zone number appears on the display. To recalibrate, hold button A for 3 seconds until "C" appears on the display. If the zone number differs for your country, set the correct zone number by referring to "Compass Zone Setting", then perform the calibration procedure again.
  4. Drive the vehicle at least 2 circles at less than 5 mph (8 km/h) until a compass direction appears. Driving in circles in a clockwise and counterclockwise direction is possible, and if possible, stop the wipers from operating.
  5. If the compass direction becomes inaccurate again, repeat the following procedure.
When driving a new vehicle for the first time, or if the battery has been disconnected, perform the calibration procedure as described above.
  6. Find your current location and the deviation zone number on the zone map.
  7. Press and hold button A for more than 4 seconds. The current zone number will appear on the display.
  8. Release and press button A until the new zone number appears on the display. After you stop pressing the button, the display will show the compass direction for a few seconds.
Compass Zone Setting. This compass must be set to compensate for the difference between true north and magnetic north. To set the variance zone, refer to the zone map.
  1. Do not install ski racks, antennas, etc. that are attached to the vehicle with magnets. They affect compass operation.
  2. If the compass readings become incorrect soon after readjustment, have the compass checked at an authorized dealer.
  3. The compass may not show the correct direction in tunnels or when driving up or down steep slopes. (The compass returns to the correct direction when the vehicle moves to an area where geomagnetism has stabilized.)
