High Voltage Disconnection Procedure

Before performing any work, disconnect the high voltage circuit. Related to the high voltage system (battery pack assembly, power relay assembly, HPCU, BMS ECU, hybrid drive motor, inverter, HSG, LDC power cable, electric compressor, etc.).
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) cable from the auxiliary 12 V battery.
  2. Remove the service plug.
    1. Open the service plug cover (A).
    2. Pull the lever (A) up/down in the direction of the arrow while lifting the locking hook (B), then pull out the service plug.
  3. Wait more than 5 minutes for the capacitor in the high voltage system to discharge naturally.
  4. Make sure the capacitor is discharged.
    1. Remove the rear seat cushion and partition (Refer to "Seat" in Group BD).
    2. Remove the front high voltage cover (A).
Front high voltage cover mounting bolt: 7.8 ~ 11.8 N·m
    3. Measure the voltage between the positive and negative terminals of the inverter power cable. Below 30 V: High voltage circuit is properly closed. Above 30 V: High voltage circuit is malfunctioning.
If the measured voltage exceeds 30 V, recheck the service plug removal. If it still exceeds 30 V although the service plug is properly removed, a serious problem exists in the high voltage circuit. In this case, first troubleshoot using the DTC (Refer to the Diagnostic Trouble Code Manual). Do not perform any work on the high voltage system.
