Navigation System Limitations, GPS Signal Reception Conditions. Since GPS satellite signals are received/transmitted in straight lines, reception may not work if obstructing objects are placed on or near the GPS antenna, or while travelling in the following locations.

  • Tunnels
  • Underground parking structures
  • Under elevated roads
  • Roads through forested areas
  • Areas near high-rise buildings
  • Canyon roads
Vehicle Position Display
  1. If multipath errors occur due to reflections from buildings or related causes, the current position mark on the navigation may differ from the actual vehicle position.
  2. The vehicle position on the navigation may differ from the actual position if the vehicle has been towed. Driving for a short period of time will allow the system to correct the vehicle position through map matching or GPS information (in some cases, several minutes may be required).
    A. When driving on a narrow-angle Y-intersection road, the current position may be displayed in the opposite direction.
    B. If the vehicle is loaded onto a car carrier, the current position mark may stop at the last position before loading.
    C. When driving on a spiral road.
    D. When driving in mountainous areas with steep curves or sudden braking.
    E. When exiting onto a road after being in an underground parking structure, a building parking structure, or a turn with many revolutions.
    F. When tires have been recently replaced (especially when using spare or non-studded tires).
    G. If the battery terminal has been disconnected.
    H. When driving on city streets, the current position may be displayed on the opposite side of the road or in an off-road position.
    I. When changing the scale level from maximum magnification to another scale level, the current position mark may be displayed on a different road.
    J. When driving in heavy traffic with frequent stops in traffic jams or at intersections.
    K. When driving on slippery roads, such as those covered with heavy sand, snow, etc.
    L. When driving with snow chains installed.
    M. When using tires of an incorrect size.
    N. When the tire pressure differs between the four tires.
    O. When replacing a worn or used tire (especially a non-studded tire that has been in use for a second season, etc.)
    P. When driving near high-rise buildings.
    Q. If a roof rack is installed.
    R. When driving at high speed or after calculating a long-distance route.
Route Guidance. Proper route guidance may not be performed due to search conditions or driver position.
  • While driving straight, a guidance instruction to proceed straight may be issued on a road.
  • Guidance may not be given even when turning at an intersection.
  • There are certain intersections where guidance may not be provided.
  • Route guidance may occur signaling entry into a restricted area (restricted area, road under construction, etc.).
  • Guidance may be provided to a location away from the actual destination if roads leading to the actual destination do not exist or are too narrow.
  • Incorrect voice guidance may be given if the vehicle deviates from the planned route (for example, if a turn is made at an intersection while navigation guides you straight ahead).
  • Map data may be missing or incorrect, which may cause route guidance to not be given.
Route Recalculation The following phenomena may occur after route recalculation.
  • Guidance may be given at a position different from the current position when turning at an intersection.
  • Route recalculation may take longer when driving at high speeds.
  • Route guidance signaling a U-turn at a location where a U-turn is prohibited may occur.
  • A route guidance message may appear indicating entry into a restricted area (restricted zone, road under construction, etc.).
