▣ Direction of Rotation ▶ Low and reverse brake (LR/B) applied → Overdrive (O/D) hub locked → Center and rear carrier locked ▶ Input shaft rotation → Rear sun gear rotation → Rear internal gear rotation (reverse) → Rear external gear rotation → Rear ring gear rotation → Front ring gear rotation → Front pinion rotation → Front sun gear rotation (reverse) → Underdrive (U/D) hub rotation (reverse) ▶ Input shaft rotation → Overdrive clutch (OD/C) drum rotation ▶ Input shaft rotation → 35R clutch drum rotation

▣ Power Flow ▶ Center carrier locked, center sun gear rotating ▶ Rotation of the center planetary sun gear with the carrier held stationary brakes and reverses the ring gear (front carrier), transmitting power to the front carrier. ▶ The rear and front ring gears of the rear planetary gear rotate at reduced speed, causing the front planetary gear to rotate in reverse without load on the front sun gear.

▣ Power Flow ▶ Front sun gear, center and rear carriers locked, rear sun gear rotating continuously ▶ As the rear sun gear rotates, power is reduced at the rear planetary gear and then delivered to the rear and front ring gears. The force is reduced again at the front planetary gear, whose sun gear is fixed in place, and then delivered to the front carrier. ▶ Here the center ring gear, which is integral with the front carrier, rotates and drives the center sun gear in reverse without load.

▣ Power Flow ▶ Front sun gear and center sun gear locked, rear sun gear rotating continuously ▶ Rotation of the rear sun gear transmits power to the rear and front ring gears, and the reaction from the front carrier and center ring gear, to which the sun gear is attached, transfers to the center and rear carriers, resulting in power balance and power transmission to the front carrier.

▣ Power Flow Route
▶ Front sun gear is locked, and the rear carrier and rear sun gear rotate
▶ Activation of the Overdrive (OD/C) clutch locks the rear planetary gear carrier and sun gear together. The 1:1 gear ratio passes through the rear and front ring gears and reaches the front carrier of the front planetary gear, to which the sun gear is attached.
▶ Here the center sun gear of the center planetary gear rotates at higher speed in the normal direction, at zero load, due to the action of the connected ring gear and carrier with a 1:1 gear ratio.

▣ Power Flow Route
▶ Center and rear carriers, center sun gear and rear sun gear rotating
▶ The center carrier and center planetary gear sun gear rotate simultaneously, so the 1:1 rotation ratio is transmitted to the center ring gear (front carrier).
▶ Here the rear planetary gear rotates at a 1:1 ratio, as when 4th gear is engaged; however, the front planetary gear remains freewheeling and the front sun gear rotates in the normal direction, at zero load and at a 1:1 gear ratio.

▣ Power Flow Route
▶ Center carrier rotates, center sun gear is locked.
▶ When the center planetary gear sun gear is held in place and the center carrier is allowed to rotate, the center ring gear increases rotational speed and transmits power to the front carrier.
▶ Here the rear planetary gear maintains a 1:1 gear ratio, as when 4th or 5th gear is engaged; however, the front planetary gear remains unlocked and the front sun gear rotates at higher speed in the normal direction, at zero load.
