The Transmission Oil Temperature (OTS) sensor monitors the automatic transmission fluid temperature and sends the reading to the TCM. It is a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor, whose resistance is inversely proportional to the temperature level. The data from this sensor is used to identify the torque converter clutch on/off zones within the low and high temperature ranges, and to compensate hydraulic pressure levels during shift changes.
