Kia Sorento: Break-In Procedure

~1min read

No special break-in period is required. By observing a few simple precautions during the first 600 miles (1,000 km), you can improve the performance, economy, and service life of your vehicle.

  • Do not over-rev the engine. • While driving, keep the engine speed (rpm, or revolutions per minute) between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm.
  • Do not hold one speed for a long period of time, whether fast or slow. Varying the engine speed is necessary for proper engine break-in.
  • Avoid sudden stops, except in emergencies, so that the brakes break in properly.
  • Do not allow the engine to idle for more than 3 minutes at a time.
  • Do not tow a trailer during the first 1,200 miles (2,000 km) of operation.
