High beam assist (if equipped)

The High Beam Assist is a system that automatically adjusts the headlight range depending on the brightness of other vehicles and road conditions (switching between high and low beams).
Operating Conditions
1. Set the light switch to the AUTO position.
2. To turn on the high beams, push the switch lever forward.
High beam assist indicator lamp (
) indicator light comes on.
3. High beam assist is activated when vehicle speed is above 45 km/h.
- If the lever is pushed while the high beam assist is pressed in, high beam assist turns off and the high beam remains on constantly. The high beam assist indicator lamp (
) goes off. - If the lever is pulled while the high beam is on and high beam assist is activated, high beam assist turns off.
4. When the light switch is in the HEADLIGHT position, high beam assist turns off and the low beam remains on constantly.
The high beam switches to low beam in the following cases:
- if the high beam assist system is turned off;
- if the light switch is not in the AUTO position;
- if oncoming vehicle headlights are detected;
- if preceding vehicle taillights are detected;
- when ambient brightness is high enough that high beam is not required;
- if street lights or other lights are detected;
- when vehicle speed is below 35 km/h.
- if the headlights or taillights of a bicycle or motorcycle are detected.
DANGER
The system may not operate normally under the following conditions.
- when oncoming vehicle lights or preceding vehicle taillights are not recognized due to lamp damage, obstructed view, etc.;
- if the lamps of an oncoming or preceding vehicle are covered with dust, snow or water;
- if the headlights or taillights of a preceding or oncoming vehicle are not recognized due to exhaust gas, smoke, fog, snow, etc.;
- when the windshield is obstructed by foreign matter such as ice, moisture, dust, or is damaged or opaque;
- if light similar to taillights of a preceding vehicle is present;
- if visibility conditions such as fog, heavy rain or snow are poor;
- when the headlights have not been repaired by an authorized dealer or have been replaced;
- if the headlights are not properly aimed;
- if you are towing, carrying a heavy load, or driving on an uneven road;
- when driving uphill or downhill;
- if only part of a preceding vehicle is visible at an intersection or on a curve;
- when traffic lights, reflectors, direction indicators or mirrors are present;
- when road conditions are poor, such as wet or snow-covered roads;
- when the headlights of a preceding vehicle are off but the fog lights are on;
- when a vehicle suddenly appears in a curve;
- when driving a vehicle with a damaged tire at an angle or when towing;
- If the Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) warning lamp illuminates. (if equipped)
WARNING
- Do not attach any accessories or stickers to the windshield in front of the sensor, and do not apply window tint to the windshield.
- Have the windshield replaced at an authorized dealer.
- Do not remove any parts of the high beam assist system and avoid impact damage.
- Make sure water does not reach the high beam assist.
- Do not place light-reflective objects, e.g. mirrors, white paper, etc. on the instrument panel. The system may not operate correctly when sunlight is reflected.
- Sometimes the high beam assist does not operate perfectly. For safety, always check traffic conditions. If the system does not operate normally, switch between high and low beam manually.
