Features of Your Vehicle

Gauges

~2min read

Speedometer

The speedometer shows the vehicle speed in miles per hour (mph) or kilometers per hour (km/h). It is calibrated accordingly.

Tachometer

The tachometer shows the approximate engine speed in revolutions per minute (rpm).

Refer to the tachometer to select appropriate shift points and to avoid excessive engine speed.

DANGER

Do not run the engine while the tachometer needle is in the red zone. This may cause serious engine damage.

Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge

This gauge shows the engine coolant temperature when the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button is in the ON position.

DANGER

When the temperature gauge pointer moves above the "130" position (outside the normal range), it indicates overheating, which may damage the engine.

Do not continue driving if the engine is overheating. For information on what to do if the vehicle overheats, see "If the Engine Overheats" on page 7-08.

WARNING

Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. The engine coolant is under pressure and may cause serious burns. Wait until the engine has cooled before adding coolant to the coolant reservoir.

Fuel Gauge

The fuel gauge shows the approximate fuel level in the tank.

NOTICE

  • For fuel tank capacity, refer to "Recommended Fuel, Lubricants and Fill Capacities" on page 9-10.
  • The fuel gauge needle is replaced by a warning light that illuminates when the fuel tank is almost empty.
  • On slopes or in curves, the fuel gauge needle may fluctuate due to fuel movement in the tank, or the low fuel warning light may illuminate earlier than usual.

WARNING

Fuel Level Gauge

Vehicle occupants may be exposed to danger when driving with an empty tank. Be sure to stop and refuel as soon as the low fuel warning light illuminates or the fuel gauge approaches "0" (empty).

DANGER

Avoid driving with a very low fuel level. A low fuel level may cause engine misfires, which may damage the catalytic converter.

Odometer

The odometer shows the total distance the vehicle has traveled. It should be used to determine the approximate timing of regular maintenance.

- Odometer range: 0 ~ 1,599,999 km.

Outside Air Temperature Gauge

This gauge shows the current outside air temperature in 1°C increments.

- Temperature range:
- Type A: 40 °C ~ 85 °C
- Type B: 40 °C ~ 85 °C

The outside temperature display may not change immediately, unlike a conventional thermometer, so that the driver is not distracted.

To change the temperature unit (from °C to °F or from °F to °C):

  • Instrument Cluster Type A: Press and hold the TRIP (daily trip) button for at least 5 seconds.
  • Instrument Cluster Type B: The temperature unit can be changed in User Settings on the LCD display.

❈ For more information, refer to "LCD Display" on page 4-59.
