Draining Water from the Fuel Filter

The diesel engine fuel filter plays an important role in separating water from the fuel and collecting the water in its lower part.

If water collects in the fuel filter, the warning lamp illuminates when the ignition switch is in the ON position.

If this warning lamp illuminates, we recommend that the system be serviced by an authorized Kia dealer.

CAUTION

If water in the fuel filter is not drained in time, damage to major components such as the fuel system may be caused by water entering the fuel system.

Replacing the Fuel Filter Cartridge

We recommend that the fuel filter cartridge be replaced by an authorized Kia dealer in accordance with the maintenance schedule at the beginning of this chapter.
