If the Engine Does Not Start
If the engine does not start or cranks slowly
1. If your vehicle has an automatic transmission, make sure the shift lever is in the N (Neutral) or P (Park) position and the parking brake is set.
2. Check that the battery connections are correct, clean, and tight.
3. Turn on the interior lights. If the lights dim or go out when you crank the starter, the battery is discharged.
4. Make sure the starter connections are securely tightened.
5. Do not push or tow the vehicle to start it. See the instructions for "Jump Starting."
WARNING
If the engine does not start, do not push or tow the vehicle to start it. This may cause a collision or other damage. In addition, push-starting or towing may cause the catalytic converter (if equipped) to become overloaded and create a fire hazard.
If the engine cranks normally but does not start
1. Check the fuel level.
2. With the ignition switch in the LOCK/OFF position, check all connectors on the ignition, coil, and spark plugs. Reconnect anything that may be disconnected or loose.
3. Inspect the fuel lines in the engine compartment.
4. If the engine still does not start, we recommend that you consult an authorized Kia dealer.
