Rear-Facing Child Restraint System

Forward-facing child restraint
For small children and infants, use of a child safety seat or infant seat is required. The child safety seat or infant seat must be the correct size for the child and must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. For safety reasons, we recommend that child restraint systems be used in the rear seats.
WARNING
Never place a rear-facing child restraint in the front passenger seat because of the danger that deployment of the passenger airbag could strike the child restraint and kill or seriously injure the child.
WARNING - Child Seat Installation
- A child can be seriously injured or killed in a collision if the child restraint is not properly secured to the vehicle and the child is not properly restrained in the child restraint. Before installing a child restraint, read the instructions provided by the child restraint manufacturer.
- If the seat belt does not function as described in this section, we recommend that the system be inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
- Failure to follow the instructions in this manual regarding the child restraint system and the instructions provided with the child restraint system may increase the likelihood and/or severity of injury in an accident.
- If the vehicle headrest interferes with proper installation of the child safety seat (as described in the child seat system manual), the headrest of the corresponding seat must be adjusted or removed completely.
