What to Do in an Emergency

Using the Tire Mobility Kit

~2min read

1. Detach the speed limit label (1) from the sealant bottle (2) and place it in a visible location inside the vehicle, such as on the steering wheel, to remind the driver not to drive too fast.

2. Filling the sealant. Strictly follow the specified sequence, otherwise the sealant may leak out under high pressure.

CAUTION

Before using the Tire Mobility Kit, carefully read the instructions attached to the sealant container. Detach the speed limit label on the sealant container and place it in a clearly visible location. Always drive within the specified speed.

3. Shake the sealant bottle.

4. Connect the filler hose (3) to the sealant container connector.

5. Make sure the button on the compressor is not pressed.

6. Remove the valve cap from the valve of the damaged tire and connect the filler hose (3) of the sealant container to the valve.

7. Insert the sealant container into the compressor housing (5) so that the bottle is in an upright position.

8. Make sure the compressor is turned off.

9. Connect the compressor and the vehicle power outlet using the cable and connector (4).

✽ NOTICE

Use only the power outlet on the front passenger side.

10. With the engine start/stop button in the ON position, turn on the compressor and let it run for approximately 5-7 minutes to fill the tire with sealant to the proper pressure (see "Tires and Wheels" in Chapter 8). Be careful not to overinflate the tire and keep away from the tire while inflating. If the tire or wheel is damaged, do not use the Tire Mobility Kit for safety reasons.

WARNING

Do not attempt to drive the vehicle if tire pressure is below 200 kPa (29 psi). This may cause an accident due to sudden tire failure.

11. Turn off the compressor.

12. Disconnect the hose from the sealant container connector and from the tire valve.

Return the tire mobility kit to its storage location in the vehicle.

WARNING

Carbon monoxide poisoning and suffocation may occur if the engine is left running in a poorly ventilated or enclosed area (such as inside a building).

Distributing the Sealant

13. Drive immediately for approximately 7 to 10 km (4 to 6 miles) or about 10 minutes to distribute the sealant evenly inside the tire.

When using the Tire Mobility Kit, the tire pressure sensors and wheel may be contaminated with sealant. Therefore, remove the tire pressure sensors and clean the wheels of sealant, and have the vehicle checked by an authorized Kia dealer.
