Repair Procedures

Replacement

  1. Remove the front drive shaft. (Refer to Drive Shaft and Axle - "Front Drive Shaft")
  2. Remove the TJ joint assembly. (Refer to Drive Shaft and Axle - "TJ Joint")
  3. Remove both dynamic damper bands (B) from the dynamic damper (A).
  4. Secure the drive shaft (A) in a vise (B), as shown in the illustration.
  5. Apply soapy powder on the shaft to prevent damage between the shaft splines and the dynamic damper when the dynamic damper is removed.
  6. Carefully separate the dynamic damper (A) from the shaft (B).

Installation

  1. Apply soap powder to the shaft to prevent damage between the shaft splines and the dynamic damper.
  2. Install the dynamic damper.
  3. Install the dynamic damper band (A).
  4. Using SST (09495-3K000), secure the TJ boot bands (B).

    Clearance (A): 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.) or less

  5. Install the TJ joint assembly. (Refer to Drive Shaft Assembly - "TJ Joint")
  6. Install the front propeller shaft. (Refer to Drive Shaft Assembly - "Front Drive Shaft")
  7. Check the front wheel alignment. (Refer to Suspension System - Alignment)
