WARNING
Maintenance Precautions
- Performing maintenance work on a vehicle can be dangerous. You may be seriously injured while performing some maintenance procedures. If you lack the knowledge, experience, or proper tools and equipment to perform the work, have the system serviced at a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
- Working under the hood with the engine running is dangerous. It becomes even more dangerous when you wear jewelry or loose clothing. They may get caught in moving parts and cause injury. Therefore, if you must run the engine while working under the hood, make sure you remove all jewelry (especially rings, bracelets, watches, and necklaces) and any ties, scarves, and similar loose clothing before approaching the engine or cooling fans.
CAUTION
- Do not place heavy objects on or apply excessive force to the engine cover (if equipped) or fuel system parts.
- When inspecting the fuel system (fuel lines and fuel injection devices), consult a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
- Do not drive for long periods with the engine cover (if equipped) removed.
- When inspecting the engine compartment, keep away from fire. Fuel, washer fluid, etc. are highly flammable. Oils may also cause a fire.
- Before touching the battery, ignition cables, and wiring, you must disconnect the battery "-" terminal. You may receive an electric shock from the electrical current.
- When removing the driver's side (-) flat head cover trim, be careful not to damage the cover.
- Be careful when replacing and cleaning light bulbs to avoid burns or electric shock.
