Description of Scheduled Maintenance Items
Engine Oil and Filter
The engine oil and filter must be replaced at the intervals specified in the maintenance schedule. If the vehicle is operated under severe conditions, more frequent oil and filter changes are required.
Seat Belts
Inspect all drive belts for cuts, cracks, excessive wear, or oil saturation. Replace as necessary. Periodically check the drive belts for proper tension while driving the vehicle, and adjust if necessary.
CAUTION
When inspecting the belt, place the ignition switch in the LOCK/OFF or ACC position.
Fuel Filter (for Gasoline Engine)
Gasoline Kia vehicles are equipped with a lifetime fuel filter built into the fuel tank. Regular maintenance or replacement is not required, but it depends on fuel quality. If there are important safety concerns, such as fuel supply restriction, surging, loss of power, hard starting, etc., the fuel filter must be inspected or replaced. Have the fuel filter inspected or replaced by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
Fuel Lines, Fuel Hoses and Connections
Inspect the fuel lines, fuel hoses, and connections for leaks and damage. Have the fuel lines, fuel hoses, and connections replaced by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
Evaporative Emission Hose (for Gasoline, FFV Engine) and Fuel Tank Cap
Inspect the evaporative emission hose and fuel tank cap at the intervals specified in the maintenance schedule. Make sure the new evaporative emission hose or fuel tank cap is installed correctly.
Crankcase ventilation hoses (if equipped)
Inspect the surface of the hoses for signs of heat and/or mechanical damage. Hard and brittle rubber, cracking, tears, cuts, abrasions, and excessive swelling indicate deterioration. Pay special attention to inspecting the hose surfaces closest to high heat sources, such as the exhaust manifold.
Inspect the hose routing to make sure the hoses do not contact any heat source, sharp edges, or moving components that could cause heat damage or mechanical wear. Inspect all hose connections, such as clamps and couplings, to make sure they are secure and that there are no leaks. Hoses must be replaced immediately if signs of deterioration or damage are present.
Air Cleaner Filter
Have the air cleaner filter replaced by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
Spark Plugs (for Gasoline, FFV Engine)
Be sure to install new spark plugs with the correct heat range.
WARNING
Do not disconnect or check the spark plugs while the engine is hot. You may get burned.
Valve Clearance (for Kappa 1.0L T-GDI, Kappa 1 L MPI, FFV Engine)
Check for excessive valve noise and/or engine vibration, and adjust if necessary. If this occurs, have the system serviced by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
Cooling System
Inspect the cooling system components, such as the radiator, coolant reservoir, hoses, and connections, for leaks and damage. Replace any damaged parts.
coolant
Engine coolant should be replaced at the intervals specified in the Maintenance Schedule.
Coolant: Coolant must be replaced at the intervals specified in the maintenance schedule.
Manual Transmission Fluid (if equipped)
Check the manual transmission fluid in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
Automatic Transmission Fluid (if equipped)
The fluid level must be within the "HOT" range of the dipstick after the engine and transmission have reached normal operating temperature. Check the automatic transmission fluid level with the engine running and the transmission in Neutral, with the parking brake properly applied.
Brake Hoses and Lines
Visually inspect for proper installation, chafing, cracks, wear, and any leakage. Replace any worn or damaged parts immediately.
Visually inspect for proper installation, chafing, cracks, wear, and any leaks. Replace any worn or damaged parts immediately.
Brake Fluid / Clutch Fluid (if equipped)
Check the brake/clutch fluid level in the brake/clutch fluid reservoir. The level must be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the reservoir wall. Use only brake/clutch hydraulic fluid that meets DOT 3 or DOT 4 specification.
Parking Brake
Inspect the parking brake system, including the parking brake lever (or pedal) and cables.
Brake Pads, Discs, Calipers and Rotors
Check the pads for excessive wear, the discs for runout and wear, and the calipers for fluid leakage.
For more information on checking the wear limit of the pads or linings, we recommend visiting the Kia website. (http://www.kia-hotline.com)
Suspension Mounting Bolts
Check the suspension connections for looseness or damage. Tighten to the specified torque.
Steering Gear Box, Linkage and Lower Arm Boots/Ball Joint
With the vehicle stopped and the engine off, check for excessive play in the steering wheel.
Inspect the link for bends or damage. Check the dust boots and ball joints for wear, cracks, or damage. Replace any damaged parts.
Drive Shafts and Boots
Inspect the drive shafts, boots, and clamps for cracks, wear, or damage. Replace any damaged parts and, if necessary, repack with grease.
Air Conditioning Refrigerant (if equipped)
Check the air conditioning lines and connections for leaks and damage.
