Repair Procedures

Tire Wear

  1. Measure the tire tread depth.

Tread depth [limit]: 1.6 mm (0.0630 in.)

  2. If the remaining tread depth (A) is less than the limit, replace the tire.
Tire Rotation

Pull and Wander Test

If the steering pulls to one side, rotate the tires according to the following tire rotation procedure.
  1. Swap the front right and front left wheels and perform a road test to check vehicle stability.
  2. If the steering pulls in the opposite direction, swap the front and rear wheels and repeat the road test.
  3. If the steering still pulls to one side, swap the front right and left tires again and perform a road test.
  4. If the steering continues to pull in the opposite direction, replace the front wheels with new ones.

Removal

  1. Remove the valve core and deflate the tire.
  2. Break the tire bead away from the wheel using a tire changer.
  3. Rotate the wheel clockwise.

Installation

  1. Apply soap or tire lubricant to the upper and lower tire beads.
  2. To install the bead, set the valve at the 5 o'clock position relative to the head on the tire changer.
  3. Place the tire on the rim so that the lower bead contacts the rim edge after the valve (6 o'clock). Rotate the rim clockwise and press down on the tire at the 3 o'clock position to seat the lower bead.
  4. After the lower bead is on the tire, rotate the wheel until the valve is at the 5 o'clock position relative to the head of the tire changer. Push down on the tire at the 3 o'clock position and rotate the wheel clockwise to seat the upper bead.
  5. Inflate the tire until both beads are seated.
