If emergency towing is necessary, we recommend that it be performed by an authorized Kia dealer or a commercial towing service. Proper lifting and towing procedures are necessary to prevent damage to the vehicle. The use of a wheel dolly (1) or flatbed is recommended.

The vehicle may be towed with the rear wheels on the ground (without a dolly) and the front wheels off the ground.

If any of the load-bearing wheels or suspension components are damaged, or if the vehicle is towed with the front wheels on the ground, use a towing dolly under the front wheels.

When towing with a commercial tow truck and wheel dollies is not used, the front of the vehicle must always be raised, not the rear.

CAUTION

  • Do not tow the vehicle in reverse with the front wheels on the ground, as this may cause damage to the vehicle.
  • Do not tow using lifting slings. Use wheel lift or platform equipment.

When towing the vehicle in an emergency without wheel dollies:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.

2. Move the gear shift lever to the N (Neutral) position.

3. Release the parking brake.

CAUTION

Failure to place the gear shift lever in the N (Neutral) position may cause internal transmission damage.
