Maintenance
You must exercise extreme care to prevent damage to your vehicle and injury to yourself when performing any maintenance or inspection procedures.
Improper, incomplete, or insufficient maintenance may cause problems with your vehicle, which could result in damage to the vehicle, an accident, or personal injury.
Owner Responsibility
NOTICE
Maintenance and record keeping are the responsibility of the owner.
Have your vehicle serviced at a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner. You must keep the documents that show your vehicle has been properly maintained according to the schedule. You need this information to make sure you meet the maintenance requirements of your vehicle warranty. Detailed warranty information is contained in your Warranty and Maintenance Booklet. Repairs and adjustments required as a result of improper maintenance or failure to perform required maintenance are not covered under warranty.

NOTICE
Improper maintenance by the owner during the warranty period may affect warranty coverage. For more information, refer to the separate Warranty and Maintenance Booklet supplied with the vehicle. WARNING
Maintenance Precautions
- Performing vehicle maintenance can be dangerous. You may be seriously injured when performing some maintenance procedures. If you do not have sufficient knowledge and experience, or the proper tools and equipment to perform the work, have the system serviced by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
- Working under the hood with the engine running is dangerous. It becomes even more dangerous when you wear jewelry or loose clothing. They can become entangled in moving parts and cause injury. Therefore, if you must run the engine while working under the hood, be sure to remove all jewelry (especially rings, bracelets, watches and necklaces) and any ties, scarves, and similar loose clothing before approaching the engine or cooling fans.
CAUTION
- Do not place heavy objects or apply excessive force to the upper part of the engine cover (if equipped) or to parts related to the fuel supply.
- When inspecting the fuel system (fuel lines and fuel injection devices), consult a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
- Do not drive for extended periods with the engine cover removed (if equipped).
- When inspecting the engine compartment, keep away from fire. Fuel, washer fluid, etc. are flammable liquids that may cause a fire.
- Before touching the battery, ignition cables, or wiring, disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal. You may receive an electric shock.
- When removing the interior trim cover with a flat-tip (-) screwdriver, be careful not to damage the cover.
- Be careful when replacing and cleaning the lamps to avoid burns or electric shock.
