WARNING

ENGINE EXHAUST CAN BE DANGEROUS!

Engine exhaust can be extremely dangerous. If you ever smell exhaust fumes inside the vehicle, open the windows immediately.

• Do not breathe exhaust gas. Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas that can cause loss of consciousness and death by asphyxiation.

• Make sure the exhaust system has no leaks. Inspect the exhaust system whenever the vehicle is raised for oil change or any other purpose. If you hear a change in exhaust sound or if you drive over something that strikes the underbody of the vehicle, have the system inspected at a qualified service facility. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.

• Do not run the engine in an enclosed space. Idling the engine in a garage, even with the garage door open, is dangerous. Never run the engine in your garage longer than necessary to start the engine and drive out of the garage.

• Avoid prolonged engine idling when people are in the vehicle. If prolonged engine idling is necessary with people in the vehicle, always do so in an open area with the air intake set to "Fresh" and the fan running at one of the higher speeds so that fresh air is drawn in.

If you must drive with the trunk lid open because you are carrying items that make this necessary:

1. Close all windows.
2. Open the side vents.
3. Set the air intake control to "Fresh", the airflow control to "Floor" or "Face", and the fan to one of the higher speeds.

To ensure proper ventilation system operation, make sure that the air intakes located directly in front of the windshield are free of snow, ice, leaves, or other obstructions.
