Parking

~1min read

  • Do not park the vehicle over easily flammable ground.

The ground could catch fire due to the high temperatures of the exhaust system.

  • Always apply the parking brake.
  • Apply the manual parking brake without pressing the release button. On a slope or uphill, apply it as firmly as possible. Depress the brake pedal at the same time to reduce the applying effort.

On vehicles equipped with an electric parking brake, pull the switchpendant
    for approximately one second.

  • Switch off the engine and ignition.
  • Turn the steering wheel until the steering lock engages (anti-theft).

  • When parking the vehicle on a level road or uphill, engage first gear or set the selector lever to P before switching off the ignition.
  • On an uphill slope, turn the front wheels away from the kerb.

When parking the vehicle on a downhill slope, engage reverse gear or set the selector lever to P before switching off the ignition. Turn the front wheels towards the kerb.
  • Lock the vehicle and activate the anti-theft alarm.
  • Note

In an accident with airbag deployment, the engine is automatically switched off if the vehicle comes to a stop within a predetermined time.
