Child seat advice

~2min read

Incorrect installation of a child seat in the vehicle compromises the child's protection in the event of a collision.

Always fasten the seat belts or the child seat harness with as little slack as possible against the child's body, even for short journeys.

When installing the child seat with the seat belt, check that the belt is tight on the child seat and holds the child seat firmly on the vehicle seat.

For optimal installation of a "forward-facing" child seat, check that its backrest rests fully against the vehicle seat backrest and that the head restraint does not get in the way.

If you need to remove the head restraint, make sure it is stored or secured to prevent it from becoming a projectile in the event of heavy braking.

Children under 10 must not be carried in a "forward-facing" position in the front passenger seat, unless the rear seats are already occupied by other children, or the rear seats are unusable or not fitted.

Deactivate the passenger airbag as soon as a "rearward-facing" child seat is installed in the front seat.

Otherwise, the child could be seriously injured or killed when the airbag deploys.

Fitting a booster seat

The upper part of the seat belt must be positioned across the child's shoulder without touching the neck.

Check that the lower part of the seat belt lies across the child's thighs.

PEUGEOT recommends using a booster seat with a backrest, fitted with a shoulder belt guide.

For safety reasons, never leave:

  • One or more children left alone and unsupervised in a vehicle,
  • a child or an animal in a car exposed to the sun with the windows closed,
  • keys within reach of children inside the vehicle.

To prevent the rear doors and windows from being opened accidentally, use the "child safety lock" device.

Do not open the rear windows by more than one third.

To protect your young children from the sun's rays, fit the rear windows with side sun blinds.
