Engine oil level: general information
During normal vehicle use, the engine consumes oil needed to lubricate and cool moving parts. For this reason, the oil level may need topping up from time to time between two oil change intervals.
For an engine that has already bedded in, if oil consumption exceeds 0.5 litre per 1,000 km, contact an Approved Dacia Dealer.
Frequency: check the oil level regularly, especially before any long journey. This avoids the risk of engine damage.
To avoid spilling oil, we recommend using a funnel when topping up the level or filling the system. Before any work in the engine compartment, always switch off the engine by pressing the stop button (see the section "Starting and stopping the engine" in chapter 2).Reading the oil level
The reading must be taken on level ground, after the engine has been stopped for some time.
To check the exact oil level and make sure the maximum level has not been exceeded (risk of engine damage), the dipstick must be used. See the following pages.
The warning message on the instrument panel display appears only when the oil level is at minimum.
- Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a clean, lint-free cloth;
- Fully reinsert the dipstick (on vehicles fitted with a dipstick with cap C, fully tighten the cap);
- Remove the dipstick again;
- Read the level: it must never fall below the "mini" mark A, nor exceed the "maxi" mark B.
After reading the level, reinsert the dipstick fully or fully tighten the dipstick cap.
Exceeding the maximum engine oil level Never exceed the maximum level when topping up the oil B: risk of engine or catalytic converter damage.If the maximum level is exceeded, do not start the engine; ask an Authorised Brand Partner for assistance.
