INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
LEAD DETECTION AT THE EXHAUST
- - Test conditions:
- Engine off.
- Exhaust pipes warm but not hot.
- Do not perform the test at a temperature below 0 °C.
- - If necessary, gently clean the inside of the exhaust outlet with a dry cloth to remove soot deposits.
- - Put on gloves, take a test paper and dampen it lightly with distilled water (if too wet, the paper loses its effectiveness).
- - Immediately after dampening, press the test paper onto the cleaned part of the exhaust and hold firm pressure for about one minute.
- - Remove the test paper and let it dry. The presence of lead is indicated by a red or pink colour on the test paper.
CAUTION: the lead test must be carried out on the rear exhaust outlet, never on the oxygen sensor.
