CONFIGURATIONS

VP001: VIN writing.

This command is used to enter the vehicle's VIN manually into the ECU. This command must be used every time the ECU is replaced. The VIN (VF...) is printed on the manufacturer's plate on the front right door pillar and stamped on the body under the engine hood.

• connect the diagnostic tool,
• open the diagnosis for the ABS BOSCH 8.0,
• select configuration VP001 "VIN writing",
• enter the vehicle's VIN,
• erase the ECU memory,
• exit diagnostic mode,
• switch off the ignition,
• wait for the "Power-latch" to end,
• read back the configuration to confirm.

VP006: Writing date of last ABS service.

Each time the ABS system is serviced in the workshop, the date of the service must be entered.

Select command VP006 on the diagnostic tool.

Enter the service date using the tool keypad.

VP007: Speedometer index.

This command programs into the ECU memory the index used to calculate vehicle speed according to the tyre size fitted.

The ABS BOSCH 8.0 ECU with "speedometer function" supplies the vehicle speed signal to all users of this information in the vehicle (instrument panel, engine management, etc.).

This vehicle speed signal replaces the one previously supplied by the speed sensor on the gearbox. The ABS ECU calculates vehicle speed from the wheel speeds and the rolling circumference of the tyres fitted to the vehicle.

Note: Vehicle speed is supplied by hard-wire (pin 23) to the COSLAD ECU, the radio, the electric sunroof, and via the multiplexed network to the other control units.

The tyre rolling radius must be programmed into the memory of a new ECU. This consists of entering an index "X" using the diagnostic tool with the command VP007 "Odometer index".

After testing the index with command VP007, erase the ECU memory, then switch off the ignition.

Using parameter PR030, check that the entered index has been correctly recognised.
