System operation
On this vehicle, the ABS system's main functions are electronic brake-force distribution between the front and rear axles by controlling rear wheel slip, and anti-lock braking, by controlling slip on all four wheels.
The system also supplies the vehicle speed information to other control units by a hard-wired link for the COSLAD, the radio and the electric sunroof, and by the multiplexed network for the other control units. The ABS control unit supplies the odometer data on the multiplexed network for the instrument panel and navigation assistance. In the event of braking causing very high deceleration, the ABS control unit sends a request on the multiplexed network to the UCH asking it to switch on the hazard warning lights.
