OIL CONSUMPTION MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE

1 - Top up to maximum level

Note: This operation must be carried out with the engine warm, after the cooling fan unit has cycled.
  • Stop the engine.
  • Wait two minutes for the oil to drain completely into the lower sump.
  • Carry out a visual check on the dipstick.
  • Top up to the "MAX" mark.
  • Make a paint mark on both the filler cap and the sump drain plug so you can later check that they have not been removed.

2 - Customer driving

  • Ask the customer to drive approximately 2000 km, without reaching the "MINI" oil level mark.

3 - Topping up

  • Wait two minutes for all the oil to drain into the sump.
  • Carry out a visual check on the dipstick.
  • Top up to the "MAX" mark.
  • Note the quantity of oil added and the mileage driven since the last top-up.

4 - Measuring oil consumption

  • Oil consumption = Quantity of top-up oil (in litres) / number of kilometres (in thousands).
