DF038 PRESENT OR STORED ANGLE SENSOR

DEF: Inconsistency

INSTRUCTIONS

Conditions for applying the diagnosis on a stored fault: The fault is declared present after the engine is running and the steering wheel is turned lock to lock, then returned to centre.

Check for a 12 V permanent supply on pin 1 and ground on pin 2 of the black 2-way connector, and a 12 V ignition-switched supply on pin 8 of the black 8-way connector of the steering column assembly.

Repair if necessary.

Vdiag 04 specific: If the steering wheel angle sensor learning was not carried out with the steering wheel at centre point and wheels straight, fault DF038 will be reported.

Parameter PR121 “steering wheel angle” will no longer be included in the operating values.

Therefore, perform steering wheel angle sensor learning using procedure CF085, then check the faults again.

Vdiag 08 specific: If fault DF038 “Angle sensor” is present, check the stored contexts. If parameter PR121 is not between -680 and 680, the steering wheel angle sensor learning was carried out incorrectly because the steering wheel was not at centre point with the wheels straight.

Repeat procedure CF085, and check for faults again.

If the fault persists, contact the Techline.

AFTER REPAIR

After repair, start the vehicle and check whether parameter PR121 changes when the steering wheel is turned.

Deal with any other faults.

Switch off the ignition for 15 seconds.

Clear the stored faults.

Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock, slowly return it to centre, and check that there are no faults.

DF053 PRESENT OR STORED ECU CONFIGURATION

DEF: Incorrect vehicle configuration

INSTRUCTIONS

Conditions for applying the stored fault diagnosis: The fault is declared present after the engine is running.

Check for a 12 V permanent supply on pin 1 and ground on pin 2 of the black 2-way connector, and a 12 V ignition-switched supply on pin 8 of the black 8-way connector of the steering column assembly.

Repair if necessary.

Reconfigure the ECU to match the vehicle equipment and type.
If the fault persists, contact the Techline.

AFTER REPAIR

Switch off the ignition for 15 seconds.

Clear the stored faults.

Confirm the configuration programmed previously.
