Emergency Front Belt Fixing Device (EFD) Description and Operation

~1min read

Description

The Emergency Front Belt Fixing Device (EFD) operates simultaneously with the seat belt pretensioner when the deployment condition is met after a collision. It is an auxiliary device that prevents the driver and front passenger from slipping out by pulling the seat belt toward the anchor side after a collision. It is located near the anchor of the driver and front passenger seats and is supported by two cables.
Never measure the resistance of the anchor pretensioner directly. The current of the measuring device may cause unexpected airbag deployment.
