Cooling System Hose Replacement
If inspection of the cooling system reveals a defective hose, replace it as follows:
· First drain the coolant from the cooling system. Coolant can be reused if drained into a clean container. Soak seized clamps with a small amount of low-viscosity oil.
· To disconnect a hose, loosen the clamps, then slide them back along the hose away from the connection. Carefully remove the hose from the fitting. Do not disconnect the system until it has cooled.
· When installing a hose, first place the clamps on the hose and slide them to the middle of the hose, then fit the hose onto the fittings. If previously used spring-type clamps have lost their tension, replace them during hose installation. If the hose is too stiff, use a small amount of soapy water as a lubricant or soften the hose in hot water. Do not use any oils to ease hose installation: they can damage the rubber.
· Push the hose fully onto the fittings, making sure it is correctly routed and not twisted, then slide the clamps onto the ends past the fitting ridges and tighten the clamps.
· Fill the cooling system.
· After disturbing any connection, check it for leaks as soon as possible.
