The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) always provides optimal pulsating, i.e. intermittent, braking, so that complete wheel lock during braking of a vehicle equipped with this system is not possible. Even during full braking on smooth ice the wheels still rotate slightly so that the vehicle does not swerve.
