Safety

Introduction

Accident statistics have shown that children are generally safer on the rear seat than on the front passenger seat.

As a rule, children under 12 years of age must ride on the rear seat 1). Depending on their age, height and weight, they must be secured on the rear seat either with a child seat or with the existing seat belts. For safety reasons, the child seat should be installed in the middle of the rear seat or behind the front passenger seat.

The physical principles of an accident naturally also apply to children, see "Schematic representation of an accident". Unlike adults, children's muscles and skeleton are not fully developed. The risk of injury is therefore higher for children.

To reduce these risks, children must only be transported in child seats! Only use approved child seats that suit the child and meet standard ECE-R 44. ECE-R stands for: Regulation of the Economic Commission for Europe. It classifies child seats into 5 groups, "Classification of child seats into different groups". Child seats that comply with standard ECE-R 44 bear the ECE-R 44 approval mark (a capital E in a circle, with the approval number below it) firmly attached to the seat.

We recommend using child seats from the Audi dealer original accessories range. Under the name "Huckepack", these offer child seats for all ages. These child seats have been designed and tested for installation in Audi vehicles and comply with standard ECE-R 44.

For installation and use of these seats, observe the legal requirements and the instructions of the child seat manufacturer in the section "Important Safety Information on Using Child Seats".
