The electromagnetic fuel shut-off valve on the injection pump opens the fuel supply when the ignition is switched on. Check it if the engine does not start or does not stop after the ignition is switched off.

CHECKING
1. Turn the ignition switch on and off. The solenoid valve should click audibly.
2. If there is no click, disconnect the electrical wire. Connect the battery cable to the shut-off valve.
3. If the click is now heard, check the circuit. Replace the wires if necessary. If the fault source is not found, replace the valve.
4. When working on the fuel system, observe cleanliness, refer to the section Cleanliness Requirements When Working on the Fuel System.

REMOVAL

Disconnect the cable and unscrew the shut-off valve (1). Refer to the accompanying illustration.

INSTALLATION
1. Remove the piston and spring from the valve and install them in the new valve. Make sure the sealing ring is positioned correctly.
2. Screw in the new valve and tighten it to 20 N·m. Secure the cable.
