Removal and Installation of Intake Manifold
The intake manifold must be removed to provide access before performing work, for example on the fuel system.
REMOVAL
1. Remove the engine covers and the charge air pipe.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. The battery is located in the luggage compartment behind the right side trim.
* Disconnecting the battery erases data stored in electronic control modules, such as engine fault memory. Refer to the recommendations in the Battery Removal and Installation section.
3. Remove the positive terminal cover from the intake manifold. Disconnect the positive battery cable and squeeze the two clamps. Remove the base downward.
4. Remove the intake manifold from the cylinder head. To do this, disconnect the charge air temperature sensor cable (3). Refer to the accompanying illustration. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the exhaust gas recirculation valve (5) and from the lower part of the intake manifold. Remove the mounting bolts and remove the intake manifold with gasket (1) from the cylinder head and bracket. Do not remove the exhaust gas recirculation valve with gasket (4).

INSTALLATION
1. Tighten the intake manifold to the cylinder head to the torque of 25 N·m. Use new gaskets for all components. Tighten the oil filter housing bracket and the recirculation line to the intake manifold also to the torque of 25 N·m.
2. Secure the positive terminal base to the intake manifold and tighten the hex nut. Install the cover.
3. Install the engine covers and the charge air pipe. Refer to the Turbocharger section.
4. Connect the negative battery cable. Set the clock. Program the radio stations.
