Alarm System

Operating Principle

The alarm system responds to:

► opening of the cabin doors, hood and tailgate
► movement inside the vehicle (interior monitoring)
► change of vehicle tilt, for example during an attempt to steal a wheel or during towing
► interruption of the battery power supply. The alarm system responds to unauthorized actions:
► with an audible alarm
► by switching on the hazard warning lights

Arming and Disarming the Alarm

The alarm system is armed and disarmed at the same time as the vehicle is locked and unlocked by turning the key in the door lock or by using the remote control.

The tailgate can be opened even after the vehicle has been armed, by pressing the button on the remote control. After the tailgate is closed, it locks and the alarm system arms again.

On some export versions, the tailgate can be opened with the remote control only after the vehicle has been unlocked.

On some export versions, turning the key in the door lock to unlock the vehicle triggers the alarm.◄

Switching off the alarm

► Unlock the vehicle using the remote control.
► Insert the electronic key fully into the ignition lock.

Indicator Lamp Signals

► The indicator lamp below the interior rearview mirror flashes at slow intervals – the vehicle is armed and the alarm system is active.

► The indicator lamp flashes after locking the vehicle – a door, the hood or the tailgate is not fully closed. Even if no action is taken, the alarm system will arm the remaining areas of the vehicle, and after 10 seconds the indicator lamp will switch to slow flashing.

However, the interior monitoring system will remain switched off.

► The indicator lamp goes out after unlocking the vehicle – no one has tampered with the vehicle in your absence.

► After unlocking the vehicle, the indicator lamp flashes until the key is inserted into the ignition lock, but for no longer than 5 minutes – someone has shown interest in the vehicle in your absence.

Tilt Sensor

The tilt sensor monitors the inclination of the vehicle body. The alarm system responds, for example, to an attempt to steal a wheel or to tow the vehicle.

Interior Monitoring System

Reliable operation of the system is only possible when the windows and sunroof are closed.

Preventing False Alarm Triggering

The tilt sensor and the interior monitoring system can be deactivated (only together).

This prevents false alarm activation, for example, in the following cases:

► the vehicle is parked in a two-level garage
► the vehicle is being transported by rail, ferry or trailer
► an animal has been left inside the vehicle

Switching Off the Tilt Sensor and Interior Monitoring System

Immediately after locking the vehicle, press the button on the key again.

The indicator lamp lights up for a while, then switches to slow flashing. The tilt sensor and interior monitoring system remain switched off until the next unlocking/locking of the vehicle.
