Poor road conditions
Your BMW performs confidently on all roads. It combines the advantages of all-wheel drive and a conventional passenger car.
To prevent vehicle damage, do not drive on loose ground.◄
To avoid endangering yourself, your passengers and the vehicle, strictly observe the following rules when driving on poor roads:
► Before getting behind the wheel, become thoroughly familiar with your vehicle and never take risks.
► Select your speed according to road conditions. The steeper the climb and the rougher the road, the lower the speed should be.
► Before driving up or down a steep slope, make sure the engine oil and coolant levels are close to the maximum mark.
► On very steep downhill slopes, use HDC.
► While driving, watch for obstacles, such as stones or potholes, and steer around them whenever possible.
► Avoid contact between the body and the road surface when crossing bumps and ruts. The maximum ground clearance is approximately 20 cm. Note that it may vary depending on vehicle load and driving conditions.
► The vehicle can drive through water up to 45 cm deep. At this depth, drive without stopping at walking pace.
If an auxiliary heater is installed, the maximum water depth must not exceed 25 cm.
► Water reduces braking effectiveness. After driving onto a dry road, dry the brakes by lightly pressing the brake pedal.
► Depending on road conditions, it may be advisable to temporarily switch off DTC. Refer to
Dynamic Traction Control (DTC).
► If one drive wheel is spinning, press the accelerator pedal firmly enough for the stability control systems to redistribute the traction force between the individual wheels.
After driving off-road, it is strongly recommended, including for safety reasons, to clean the vehicle:
► Clean dirt from the body.
► Clean dirt, snow and ice from the wheels and check them for damage.
