Notes

BMW CD and DVD players are Class 1 laser products. Do not use the unit if its cover is damaged: the laser beam can seriously damage your eyes.

Do not use discs with adhesive labels. Under the effect of heat, the labels may come off and damage the unit so that it cannot be repaired.

Use only round discs 12 cm in diameter. Do not insert discs with adapters, e.g. CD singles, as they may jam inside the unit.

Do not use combined CD/DVD discs, e.g. DVDPlus, as they may jam inside the unit irreversibly. ◄

Interference

BMW CD and DVD players are designed specifically for use in the vehicle. They may react more sensitively to damaged discs than conventional home players.

If a disc does not play, first check that it is inserted correctly.

Air humidity

Unsatisfactory playback

Unsatisfactory CD/DVD playback may be caused by one of the reasons described below.

Loading and removing discs in the CD/DVD changer

If all LEDs on the CD/DVD changer flash frequently, a malfunction is present.

To rectify:

1. Press the button.

The last inserted CD/DVD is ejected.

2. Remove the CD/DVD.

If the LEDs stop flashing frequently, the CD/DVD changer is ready for operation again.

Self-recorded CDs/DVDs

Unsatisfactory playback of a self-recorded CD/DVD may be caused by a standards mismatch or the poor quality of the blank.

Only use a special marker to write on discs.

Careful handling of discs

Protect discs from dust, humidity, scratches and fingerprints.

Store discs in their cases.

Protect discs from high temperatures (above 50°C / 122°F), high humidity and direct sunlight.

Copy-protected CD/DVD

Manufacturers often provide discs with copy protection. Such discs may not play or may play with distortion.

Care

To clean the mirror-finish surface of a CD/DVD, use special cleaning wipes (available from stores). Wipe from the center toward the edges, not in circles.
