Operating Principle

~1min read

Active Steering is a system capable of varying the steering gear ratio.

At low speeds, for example in built-up areas or when parking, the steering ratio increases, making the steering more responsive. As speed increases, the steering ratio decreases proportionally.

In this way, the system optimizes vehicle handling depending on speed.

In critical situations, the system can specifically alter the steering angle of the steered wheels set by the driver, stabilizing the vehicle before the driver would do so. When DSC is switched off, this stabilizing effect is not available.
