Deactivating the Airbags
When installing a child seat in the front passenger seat, the front and side airbags for the front passenger must be deactivated.
The side curtain airbags, seat belt pretensioners and all driver airbags remain active.

The front passenger airbag system is deactivated with the switch located on the side of the instrument panel, which is accessible when the front passenger door is opened.
If a child is seated in the front passenger seat, deactivate the front passenger airbag system.
Activate the front passenger airbag system if an adult passenger is seated in the front passenger seat.
Set the switch to the required position using the ignition key:
= front passenger airbags are deactivated and will not deploy in a collision. The off indicator lights continuously.
A child restraint system may be installed in accordance with the instructions in the section "Locations Where Child Seats Can Be Installed".
= front passenger airbags are activated. Installing a child restraint system is not permitted.

If the indicator
is not lit, the front passenger airbags will deploy in a collision.
The switch position must be changed only when the vehicle is stationary and the ignition is off.
This state remains until the next change.
