Illuminates when the ignition is switched on and goes out shortly after the engine starts.

Illuminated with the engine running

Stop and turn off the engine. The battery is not charging. Engine cooling may be impaired. On a diesel engine, power supply to the brake booster may be interrupted. Seek assistance at a service station.

Flashing

If the ignition key remains in the ON position for more than 15 seconds, the indicator starts flashing and the vehicle switches to battery energy saving mode.
