The front wiper operates automatically, without any action by the driver, when rain is detected (sensor behind the interior rear-view mirror), adjusting its speed to the intensity of precipitation.

Automatic front wipers

Activation

It is operated manually by the driver by briefly pushing lever A towards the “AUTO” position.

It is accompanied by a message on the instrument cluster display.

Off

It is operated manually by the driver by moving lever A upwards and returning it to the “0” position.

It is accompanied by a message on the instrument cluster display.

Automatic wiping must be reactivated after each ignition switch-off lasting more than one minute, by briefly pushing lever A downwards.

Malfunction

If automatic wiping malfunctions, the wiper will operate in intermittent mode.

Have it checked by the CITROËN network.

Do not cover the rain sensor, which is combined with the light sensor and located in the middle of the windscreen behind the interior mirror. When going through an automatic car wash, deactivate automatic wiping. In winter, it is advisable to wait until the windscreen has fully defrosted before activating automatic wiping.

Special front wiper position

This position raises the front wiper blades.

It allows the blades to be cleaned or replaced. It may also be useful in winter to free the blades from the windscreen.

Immediately after switching off the ignition, any action on the wiper control returns the blades to the middle of the windscreen.

To refit the blades after servicing, switch on the ignition and operate the control. To maintain the efficiency of flat-blade wipers, we recommend:
  • handling them with care,
  • cleaning them regularly with soapy water,
  • not using them to hold a cardboard sheet against the windscreen,
  • replacing them at the first signs of wear.
