Location function

Performance

At all times, the navigation computer can determine the position of the vehicle relative to at least 3 satellites.

Functional description

The navigation computer locates the vehicle by processing the signals from the following components:

  • GPS antenna (latitude, longitude),
  • internal gyrometer (relative variations in heading),
  • distance travelled information,
  • reverse gear information.

A correction process using the map data stored on the CD-ROM is used to correct the vehicle position on the road network, to improve location accuracy.

Note: The CD-ROM contains the road network that a vehicle can use, a set of points of interest, and voice messages in several languages.
